There is still time to sign up for the Ottumwa Archery Club.
Students in grades 4-12 interested in participating in archery can still join the club. Practices are held every Tuesday and Thursday starting this week in the Ottumwa High School rubber gym. Elementary archers practice at 6 p.m., middle school at 7 p.m., and high school at 8 p.m. Registration is $50 and scholarships are available. The regular seasons runs through March 11.
The club works around student schedules, according to Nicole Fenton Smith, the club’s coach. She strives to make the activity fun for students. There are no attendance requirements and students can wear jeans to competitions.
This year, students will participate in seven tournaments, including home meets on December 2 and February 10. This is a requirement if students want to be eligible to compete at state.
Fenton-Smith joins the club this year and brings seven years of archery experience. “It’s an individual sport that is for everyone,” she said. For more information, email email@example.com or contact Fenton-Smith at 641-799-4273.
