It was good news when the fire truck pulled up to Ottumwa High School today.
The local department donated hooded Bulldog sweatshirts for students who need something warm to wear. The high school donation is part of a larger effort through an organization started by fireman Josh Chance called Sparky Clause. In November each year, Sparky Clause raises money to make donations of toys, coats, sweatshirts, hats and gloves to local children. They partner with schools and other non-profits to make sure kids are warm and have something to unwrap for the holidays.
Fireman Pat Short was part of the group who dropped off the sweatshirts today. "It's a testament to the citizens of Ottumwa" who support the effort, he said.
