With the potential for icy road conditions over the next 24 hours, it's a good time to remind everyone how to find school delay and cancellation information due to weather.
First, information can be obtained directly from the school district. If you use social media, be sure to follow our Twitter or Facebook pages. You can also download the Ottumwa Community Schools' Mobile App (both Apple and Android versions are available) to receive notifications on your phone. We also post announcements on the district website. Recorded messages are also on the high school and middle school phone systems.
Second, we use our PowerSchool alert system, Alert Solution. Alert Solution is an updated system implemented this year by PowerSchool. If you have a PowerSchool account, please make sure you have updated your alert information. To access Alert Solutions, login to the parent PowerSchool account. Instructions for the alert system are on the Ottumwa Schools' website under Parents.
Finally, we notify our local media partners who normally share such announcements on-air or online. Weather-related announcements are provided to all local and area media.
