The district has installed over 2,800 computers in six buildings in the past few weeks. The effort is partly due to the removal of 1,250 devices in November due to a device malfunction at Evans Middle School. The district took swift action to remove the Lenovo Chromebooks and worked to come up with a solution.
The solution not only replaces the Lenovos but also adds additional devices to support instruction district-wide, especially the new literacy resources that rely heavily on technology at both the elementary and middle school. The goal is to purchase and integrate a total of 4,382 HP Chromebooks.
Schools who have new devices in place include: Douma, Eisenhower, Evans, Horace Mann, Liberty, and Wilson.
"My room is over the top with excitement over these new devices!" said a Liberty teacher on Friday.
