Devin Umphress was a recent fifth grader at Liberty Elementary. “I will definitely read a lot” over the summer, he said. “My whole life, I’ve grown up reading.” His book shelf is full of books, including his favorite genres mystery, horror, comedy, and sports books. He plans to read every night. “I might have dreams about what I’m reading,” he said. “It is important to read over the summer.” His review of “Detours and Designs” by Matt Fazio and Josh Malacki follows:

I think other kids should read “Detours and Designs” because it helps children understand that if you’re going to do something, always try your hardest and never give up. There may be some struggles and bumps along the way but you have to move past all the obstacles and you will achieve your goal.
