Students Design Their Dream Playground

Brenna Hull talks with students as they design their dream playground.

Students in Ottumwa's Prime Time Youth Care program became playground designers on Tuesday. The group met with Brenna Hull, a KaBOOM! project coordinator. KaBOOM! is working with Dr. Pepper/Snapple in Ottumwa to install a new playground at Wildwood Park in June. KaBOOM! is a national non-profit organization that envisions a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America. They work with several national business partners and communities to install playgrounds.

Hull was in Ottumwa on Tuesday to review the building site, meet with students for a design session, and then meet with volunteers and city staff. The project is being coordinated by Ottumwa Parks Director, Gene Rathje.

Volunteers will be needed to build the playground on Friday, June 13. For more information, contact the parks department at 682-8208.
