Liberty will kick off a five-week reading project Monday, January 29, where the whole building will read the book "Save Me A Seat" by Sarah Weeks and Gita Varadarajan. The event starts at 6 p.m.
The book jacket says... "A new friend could be sitting right next to you. Joe and Ravi might be from different places, but their both stuck in the same place: School. Joe's lived in the same town all his life, and was doing just fine until his best friends moved away and left him on his won. Ravi's family just moved to America from India, and he's finding it pretty hard to figure out where he fits in. Joe and Ravi don't think they have anything in common - but soon enough they have a common enemy (the biggest bully in their class) and a common mission: to take control of their lives over the course of a single crazy week."
On Monday night, every student who attends will receive a book. A guest student reader from India will read the first chapter aloud and a guest student reader from the United States read the second chapter aloud. Students will be entered into a drawing for door prizes and then a guest cook from India will prepare vegetables and rice that students in India would take in their lunch. Chicken nuggets will also be available.
