The Evans Middle School choir performed for the Ottumwa Community Preschool Thursday. The tradition started when the preschool moved to its current location, according to vocal director, Pam De Boer. Students are divided into two groups, one performing in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Students are rewarded with pizza, beverages, and dessert.
"It was very fun," according to Anna Wellings, a seventh grader. Wellings is no stranger to singing seasonal songs. She recently coordinated a community caroling event at the mall with over 100 voices joining in.
Students sang several seasonal songs, including "Frosty the Snow Man," "Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer," and "Jingle Bells." "Definitely, "Jingle Bells" is my favorite," said North Lindell.
Jocelyn Maw enjoyed the opportunity to sing to the preschoolers. "They are so cute," she said. "I like performing in front of people." This is the second public concert for the group.
