The Evans Middle School Mock Trial team is headed to state after placing second in regional competition on Tuesday in Burlington.
Mock Trial provides students the opportunity to present both sides of a hypothetical legal case. Students learn about the legal process and current legal issues. The club helps students develop critical-thinking skills and aids in the development of fundamental research, preparation, and presentation skills. This year’s case involves a business being tried in a wrongful death case.
Team members include: Emma Strayer, Chris Luedtke, Colton Addis, Josie Young, Sophia Ford, Trey Hull, Paige Anderson, Haley Vanderburg, Dalaney Deiters, and Jaiden Cunningham. The team is coached by Ralph Skinner and assisted by local prosecutor, Sam Huff.
State competition begins November 14.
