The Ottumwa Community School District is thrilled to announce the official ribbon cutting celebration of the new Ottumwa High School Gymnasium, scheduled for Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 9:45 a.m. The ribbon cutting will take place at the entrance of the gymnasium, across from the Ottumwa High School main entrance on Second Street. The community is invited to tour the facility, connect with district leaders, and celebrate this incredible investment in Ottumwa’s future.
The ribbon cutting marks the completion of a major milestone in the Ottumwa High School (OHS) remodel and the culmination of Phase IIa of the district’s “Be the Best” initiative—a bold commitment to providing top-tier resources, spaces, and support for Ottumwa students.
In addition to unveiling the gymnasium, families are invited to tour newly renovated classroom spaces at Ottumwa High School, including updated Family & Consumer Science rooms, science labs, fine arts expansions, and more.
“Our facility upgrades at OHS are a game-changer,” said Superintendent Mike McGrory. “They’re a source of pride for Ottumwa, a symbol of excellence, and a reflection of our commitment to the full development of our students. Having these world-class amenities right on campus gives our students a strong sense of connection and belonging.”
Join us on Saturday, August 2, at 9:45 a.m. on the Ottumwa High School campus for a morning of pride, celebration, and the unveiling of a transformative facility built to elevate student opportunities and community engagement.
Tours will be available hourly beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the new gymnasium, auditorium, Family & Consumer Science spaces, science labs, fine arts area, wrestling and weight room, the Brain Health Room, and additional new learning environments.
Immediately following the ribbon cutting, the 5th Annual Back-to-School Health & Family Festival will begin at 10:00 a.m. inside Ottumwa High School, featuring registration information, school services, and community resources available in the cafeteria. All events will conclude at 1:00 p.m.
