Dear Ottumwa Schools Families,

It is with deep sadness that I share the heartbreaking news that Steve Zimmerman, Principal at Fahrney Elementary, experienced an unimaginable loss today as his wife, Jean, passed away suddenly.

Our hearts are heavy for Steve, his family, and all who knew and loved Jean. During this incredibly difficult time, we ask that everyone respect the family’s privacy as they begin to grieve and heal.

I have had the privilege of knowing Steve and Jean for over 30 years. Steve is a man of great faith and unwavering commitment to both his work and his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family during this difficult time.

In moments like these, I am reminded of the strength and compassion within our Bulldog family. May we continue to show kindness and grace to the Zimmerman family and one another as we navigate this time of sorrow together.
