The new Director of Human Resources for Ottumwa Schools is excited to be in a job that she has always had a passion for.
Patricia (PJ) Heinz was approved by the Ottumwa Board of Education at their January 22 meeting. She starts her new position July 1. Heinz brings a wealth of school experiences to her new role. She currently serves as superintendent/elementary principal at Hubbard-Radcliffe Community School District in Hubbard. She has also served as a curriculum coordinator, middle school principal, elementary teacher, and was a K-12 talented and gifted teacher.
She earned her elementary education degree from Northwest Missouri State University, a Masters of Educational Administration from Iowa State, and an Educational Specialist degree from Drake.
“I was looking for something different,” she said of her application for the HR position. “This is a chance to do what I want to do. I’m a people person naturally and feel I have some skills that match what the district needs.”
Superintendent Nicole Kooiker is excited for Heinz to fill the HR Director role. “She is coming to us with a wealth of knowledge in education and human relations and will be a great addition to our district.”
Heinz is looking forward to moving to Ottumwa. “I love the vibe of what’s happening there,” she said. “I’m excited to be part of the Ottumwa district.”
