Ottumwa Community Schools hosts a registration event for students entering kindergarten in March each year.
The district’s Kindergarten Open House is held at Douma, Eisenhower, James, Horace Mann, and Wilson Schools from 6 -7 p.m. Parents are asked to contact their neighborhood school to receive a registration packet prior to attending if they haven’t received one. The packet contains several forms which need to be completed and returned to register. Forms include a student enrollment data form, certificate of immunization, and proof of birth. Iowa law requires that all students must be five-years-old on or before September 15 in the year they enroll.
Prior to the first day of school, students will also need to return the pre-enrollment physical examination form, certificate of dental screening, and a student vision card. These forms are in the enrollment packet as well as on the website under Parents, then Kindergarten Registration.
For parents who didn't attend the registration event in March, please plan to attend the district's new student registration dates in August. For questions regarding kindergarten registration, please contact an elementary school secretary.
